The Mandai Orchid Garden is located in a quiet area of Mandai Lake Road, conveniently near the Singapore Zoological Gardens. The largest and oldest commercial garden in Singapore was set up in 1950. The orchid garden covers 2 hectares and
showcases a wide variety of orchids. It has been a beautiful sanctuary with a diverse array of hybrids for many years.
The place is of horticultural interest and the gradual gradient of the hillside provides an ideal condition for orchid cultivation. The orchid garden features over 200 varieties of orchids including the Tiger Orchid. Colorful orchids are showcased all year round amidst beautifully landscaped water gardens. A secondary forest area creates the perfect ambience around the garden.
Apart from orchids, the place houses other plants, herbs and spices, along with a Tropical Fruit Orchard featuring several fruit trees. They are housed in a netted enclosure and the garden has been the most visited sanctuary for over 50 years. The tranquility around the water garden gives the taste of heaven on earth. Orchid tenders at work can be watched to gain an insight into the different methods of cultivation. Gift wrapped orchids are available for sale.
