Sprawling over 1 hectare of land, the Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden is located within the vicinity of Lake Garden, beside the butterfly park. The orchid garden was established in the year 1986 to showcase the enormous species of orchids in the
region and has over 800 species of stunning Malaysian orchids.
The floral paradise houses about 3,000 orchid species all over the world, out of which, 800 are from Malaysia alone. The orchid garden is also a center for study and conservation of orchids. The garden appears as a riot of colors and features many of the rare species of orchids. The pathway to the orchid garden has a central pergola with many orchids and a variety of flowers. The hill top garden presents a collection of hybrid orchids and an array of Heliconia. The place has an orchid bazaar where orchid pots can be purchased for a reasonable price.
An adjoining section features the hibiscus garden. Hibiscus is Malaysia’s national flower and the small terraced garden showcases over 2,000 varieties of the flower. The weekends are utilized for the sale of both orchids and hibiscus.
The most beautiful flowers and the exotic blooms can be relished in the vicinity of the place by strolling through the orchid-lined walkways. The place attracts orchid lovers from all over the world and also lends some important tips on managing these beautiful flowers.
